The heart of the relationship is the love of Christ and the call “That they may all be One”. John 17:21
The NH United Church of Christ (UCC) conference has a partnership with the UCC conference in Zimbabwe. The partnership is founded on a deep commitment to walk together in faith and to serve together in ministry among God’s people. The effort is supported by Common Global Ministries of the United Church of Christ. With the help of the Ukama Advisory Board, the Hooksett Congregational Church has worked to foster its partnership with our sister church in Gweru, including establishing consistent email communication with the Gweru Church and participating in the Zimbabwe container collection project each year. Additionally, a bulletin board has been designated out in the vestry to keep you updated with current email communications, pictures, news, etc.
This past year the “Container Project” took place on May 24th… Once again, with your generosity, we contributed 45 boxes of goods! (See photos of last year’s event here) We kicked off this event on April 6th when we celebrated our partnership with a very special “Zimbabwe Day” event. Thank you to all who helped with preparation and planning and to all who joined in to sample many traditional Zimbabwe foods and learn more about life and faith in Zimbabwe. We were fortunate to welcome a newcomer to our congregation, Cecilia Moyo, who shared with us her insight about her native country. Cecilia has lived in Hooksett since December after living in Derry for many years, and she learned of our Ukama involvement through our website. Thank you Cecilia… and welcome!
